About Dr. Guendelman
Dr. Maya Guendelman is a bilingual (English/Spanish) pediatric neuropsychologist (CA PSY #29257) who specializes in neuropsychological, psychological, psycho-educational, and autism assessment. She has expertise in evaluating children, adolescents, and young adults with a broad range of neurodevelopmental, neurological, and psychiatric conditions. In addition to providing assessment in English, Dr. Guendelman provides culturally- and linguistically-sensitive assessments to monolingual Spanish-speaking and bilingual children. Separate from her private practice, Dr. Guendelman is a Pediatric Neuropsychologist at Kaiser Permanente Oakland. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Psychology Department at UC Berkeley.
A Berkeley native, Dr. Guendelman obtained a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Psychology at Stanford University and a PhD in Clinical Science at UC Berkeley. Dr. Guendelman completed an American Psychological Association-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the UCLA Medical Center/David Geffen School of Medicine and Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. She received post-doctoral fellowship training in pediatric neuropsychology at UCLA Medical Center, The Help Group, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Guendelman was a Fulbright Scholar in Santiago, Chile. She has also worked with young children with histories of psychosocial trauma at San Francisco General Hospital.
Dr. Guendelman has published her scientific research in several peer-reviewed psychology journals, including Psychological Science, Development and Psychopathology, and the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology. She has also presented her work at national conferences as well as at Stanford University, Palo Alto University, UCLA, and UC Berkeley.
Dr. Guendelman lives in the East Bay with her husband and children.
